Epitope-based HLA matching is an emerging concept in HLA alloimmunity. The epitope component aims at a better understanding of HLA epitopes and to improve the definition of these epitopes.
Projects within the bioinformatics component aim at developing software tools, databases and communication languages to improve HLA & Immunogenetics research and diagnostics
18th IHIWS is being organized by Sebastiaan Heidt and Eric Spierings, on behalf of the HLA Working Group The Netherlands (HLA-WN) with the intended date being in May 2022. The location will be Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The organizing committee has a strong commitment and aims to be very active in making sure all goals of the parts of the workshop are reached. As the subtitle of this bid for the 18th IHIWS already implies, next generation is not only applicable to sequencing; the representatives of the HLA-WN truly also embody the next generation in the field of Immunogenetics and Histocompatibility.
The organizing committee will also organize the 2022 Annual Conference of the European Federation for Immunogenetics. This meeting will also take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and will directly follow upon the IHIWS meeting. This setting will allow for the participants of the 18th IHIWS to join the 2022 Annual EFI Conference.
